Testimonials

I am Asha Vasudevan working with United India Insurance Company. I have been staying in SRV Bhavan since 2018 November. My family resides in Goa. During the Covid 19 pandemic lockdown I along with 17 boarders were held up in the hostel. For me, truly speaking SRV Bhavana was really a home away from home. The trustees Usha Madam and Sarika Madam to name a few were very kind and were very particular that all essential things were provided to us. The wardens Kamini Madam and Jayanti Madam were very coperative and would make sure that none of us faced any problems. I would also like to appreciate and thank the kitchen staff who used to provide us tasty food on time without any hindrance or hesitation. Even during the crisis the authorities managed to keep the premises and it’s surroundings very clean with their limited staff. I am happy and very proud to be a part of SRV Bhavana. I don’t think that there is any other hostel better safe and caring for women. My memories during my stay in hostel especially during the pandemic is unforgettable and will be cherished throughout my life.

It’s my privilege to write about my wounderful experience in SRV Bhavan.
I have joined the hostel in the year June,2014 to pursue my education . I completed my Master’s in Commerce degree from St.Aloysius College. For the academic prospects, the hostel environment is ideal. It is also very convenient to commute to any place from the hostel premises, even if its to board a bus at the bus stand which is bang opposite the hostel or to purchase daily groceries and items or any other place, everything is in close proximity to the hostel.
I never felt like I’m in the center of the city. It always feels like a home. There is no such distrubances and a lot of greenary inside the campus.
After my studies started working for the Bank and continued the hostel life.
When it comes to celebrations, we celebrated all the festivals, be it children’s day, sports day, hostel day and so on with lots of fun with the entire support from the committee members , wardens and fellow hostilities. When it comes to food on special occasions we used to get variety of dishes and on other days different types of dishes for vegetarian and non vegetarian are provided . The cafeteria staff served our meals with love even when we may have thrown tantrums sometimes.
The Most important part for me is when covid19 crises had arised . All the hostels and PG’s around, stopped functioning and eventually shutdown. But our hostel was open only for 17 students initially and as days passed by , we were just 6 of us left. Yet, they still kept our hostel open and took care of us like their own children. I have huge Respect towards them for this very reason just like how I respect my own family back at home .
The warden’s and committe members also used to forgive all our blunders and mistakes . Inspite of that, they always wished us well supported and helped us in every way.
Finally, I would like to thank all the Committee Members, Warden’s, cafeteria Staff and Watch Man for their kind Support and for their abundant Love and care towards us.

A GLIMPSE OF MY DAYS COPING WITH MY ANXIETY DURING THE PANDEMIC AT SRVB ( March and April 2020 ) –
Covid -19 struck the entire world and as we watched in shock, how all our lives changed drastically , the declaration of first lock down was necessary to remove the burdens of thousands of people from all walks of life and from every corner of the earth.
Here, we the boarders of SRVB on March 22nd went through a rollercoaster of emotions and panic slowly crept in as we desperately tried to get in touch with our parents and guardians to reach our Sweet Home.
A total of 15 to 20 people were left behind as there was no options. Throughout the first and second lock down, the main cook, wardens, a cleaner and an employee cooperated to run the hostel with good supply of food and to get the necessary things from the market whenever the curfew was withheld.
The Hostel Management had provided essential things without any hindrance for our daily needs.
The prime minister encouraging the entire Nation to clap hands and lighting the lamps definitely made us mingle with each other and made us realize the importance of being there for one another inspite of having to practice social distancing !!SRVB was in pin drop silence, environment was calm. The TV News to hear or watch was always disturbing and made us anxious. So during those days only Prayer, Meditation, Yoga, Good nourishing food provided by the cafeteria, Kashaya,Vitamin Tablets, Hearing music, 40-60 minutes walk, Chanting of particular Mantra, Drawing and Painting kept me busy and far safer.
I had no idea what would happen in future but SRVB helped me get through these tough times . Everyone is waiting for a final solution so that the Covid-19 chaos can STOP.
Those critical days were not a bad dream at SRVB but cherished memories and lessons to share to one and all.
